Welcome to Life Skills of Youngstown! We are here to help you earn your high school diploma.
Life Skills of Youngstown is located on Market Street, next to AutoZone and across the street from the All In One beauty salon. You can reach Life Skills via Western Reserve Transit Authority, or if you drive, there's plenty of parking in front and on the side of the building.
We've had about 500 young people earn their high school diploma at Life Skills of Youngstown. Some of them are employed at Covelli Center, George Town, Molly Maid, Auntie's Anne's Pretzels, Wendy's, McDonald's, Ceci's Pizza, JCPenney, Golden Corral, nursing homes, home health providers, hospitals, MYCAP daycare, and the United States Armed Forces.
We believe all of our students who have received a high school diploma are success stories. We have students that are enrolled in Youngstown State University and ITT Tech. One of our students is currently a semester away from graduating from college with a degree to become a school teacher.
Life Skills is a hub of community activity. We host block watch meetings as well as employment and health fairs at the school. We are a site for Youngstown State University social work interns, and we open the school for community events such as Unity In The Community Parade. We participated in the annual city Family Reunion hosted by a local radio station. Our Enrollment Specialists have given presentations at the Salvation Army.
About Life Skills of Youngstown:
- Students attend class five days a week – one session per day.
- Instruction is primarily computer-based.
- Qualified teachers act as facilitators to help guide the students' learning.
- All students have the same graduation requirements as public school students.
- Once enrolled, students will be assisted in finding a job or an opportunity to provide community service.
- Every student receives an individual academic and career plan which serves as his/her academic and life skills guide.
- Tuition is free, just as in a traditional public school.
- Upon graduation, the student earns an actual state-recognized high school diploma – not a GED – and valuable job experience.

Child Find Policy:
Children with disabilities are not always visible. In some cases, parents are not even aware of the fact that their child has a disability and are also unaware of services that are available to assist them. Life Skills Center of Youngstown is interested in meeting the needs of all children, including those with disabilities. If you know of a child who may have disabilities, please contact the Administrator at 330-743-6698 for more information.
