Welcome to LifeSkills of Pontiac! We are here to help you earn your high school diploma.
LifeSkills of Pontiac is near Woodward Avenue down from the Phoenix Center underpass. Smart Bus serves our school location. We also have a parking lot if you choose to drive to school.
More than 100 students have earned a high school diploma at LifeSkills of Pontiac, and these graduates are working in child care, retail, education, self-employment, and more.
One of our graduates received a scholarship from Baker College and is attending the Owosso Campus pursuing a degree in Culinary Arts. Throughout his education, he showed a love for the culinary arts and was very excited to have the opportunity to study at Baker.
Staff and students are involved in community service, too. We donate food baskets to local shelters and families during the holidays, and our Student Council has created an adopt-a-family program to raise funds for needy families.
LifeSkills is more than just a diploma. It's a place where you can turn your whole life around.
About LifeSkills of Pontiac:
- Students attend class five days a week – one session per day.
- Instruction is primarily computer-based.
- Qualified teachers act as facilitators to help guide the students' learning.
- All students have the same graduation requirements as public school students.
- Once enrolled, students will be assisted in finding a job or an opportunity to provide community service.
- Every student receives an individual academic and career plan which serves as his/her academic and life skills guide.
- Tuition is free, just as in a traditional public school.
- Upon graduation, the student earns an actual state-recognized high school diploma – not a GED – and valuable job experience.
