Welcome to Life Skills of Palm Beach! We are here to help you earn your high school diploma.
Life Skills of Palm Beach is located in the shopping plaza on the corner of Lake Ida Road and Congress Avenue in the Lake Ida Plaza, Delray Beach, Florida. The school is adjacent to the Regions Bank and across from the Congress Commerce Plaza. Palm Tran bus stops are on the main road near the school.
Palm Tran bus transit and the Tri Rail system transportation are available for students. There is no cost to students to obtain passes via these transit services.
If driving to school, students should park in the designated parking area adjacent to the Regions Bank (north area nearest Lake Ida Road). Students parked within the unauthorized banking area could be subject to school consequences.
Since becoming a Charter School in Palm Beach County starting with 10 students in 2005, our Life Skills has helped more than 300 students earn a high school diploma. Many of these graduates were pushed out or potential drop outs of the traditional school system.
Students have the opportunity to seek employment and work anywhere within the Palm Beach County area. However, with the assistance of Life Skills' Employability Specialist, students are provided notices of possible job opportunities within the twenty-mile radius of Life Skills of Palm Beach. Many have obtained employment in the service industry and several have been successful becoming employed in the sales and trade industries.
Many Life Skills of Palm Beach students have overcome obstacles. One student came to Life Skills after his mother decided to flee from years of a physical, and emotionally abusive relationship. They were left homeless and had to request assistance from a relative for shelter and financial support. This issue left the student bitter and with very little feeling of self-worth or hope for the future. After enrolling at Life Skills and with the support of the staff, he was able to graduate as Salutatorian of his class, receiving a scholarship to attend college to major in Psychology. He credits Life Skills teachers and staff for helping him overcome a traumatic experience and regain a positive perspective on his and his mother's future.
We are active in our community as well. We have been avid supporters and contributors to the Community Centers Blood Drives and have received awards for the support we provide. Students also regularly contribute to the humane society through donations and volunteering.
About Life Skills of Palm Beach:
- Students attend class five days a week - one session per day.
- Instruction is primarily computer-based.
- Qualified teachers act as facilitators and help guide the students' learning.
- All students have the same graduation requirements as public school students.
- Once enrolled, students will be assisted in finding a job or or an opportunity to provide community service.
- Every student receives an individual academic and career plan, which serves as his/her academic and life skills guide.
- Tuition is free, just as in a traditional public school.
- Upon graduation, the student earns an actual state-recognized high school diploma - NOT A GED - and valuable job experience.

The Governing Board for Life Skills Center Palm Beach has pointed Larry G Herndon as the Parent Liaison to their Governing Board.
Mr. Herndon will be responsible for facilitating parental involvement, providing access to information, assisting parents and others with questions and concerns, and resolving disputes.
