Welcome to Life Skills of North Columbus! We're here to help you earn your high school diploma.
Life Skills of North Columbus is on the second floor of the Ashland University Building, next to China Dynasty, on 161 between Karl and Cleveland Avenues. If you drive to school, you can park in the lot between Life Skills and China Dynasty. Better yet, if you're a student, we'll provide you with an ID card that lets you ride COTA.
Over 150 students have graduated with a high school diploma from our school since we opened our doors in 2006. Some of our former students have gone on to careers in the health services industry, veterinary care, the Armed Forces and the building trades, while others seek higher education at Columbus State, The Ohio State University, and various trade schools. Imagine what you could do with a high school diploma from Life Skills!
Our students and staff give back to the community in many ways including raising money for Leukemia and conducting several blood drives each year.
About Life Skills of North Columbus:
- Students attend class five days a week – one session per day.
- Instruction is primarily computer-based.
- Qualified teachers act as facilitators to help guide the students' learning.
- All students have the same graduation requirements as public school students.
- Once enrolled, students will be assisted in finding a job or or an opportunity to provide community service.
- Every student receives an individual academic and career plan, which serves as his/her academic and life skills guide.
- Tuition is free, just as in a traditional public school.
- Upon graduation, the student earns an actual state-recognized high school diploma – not a GED – and valuable job experience.
