College Fair Gives Students Look At The Future
On Wednesday, May 11, 2011, the Life Skills of Cleveland held a college fair for local colleges and universities to speak with Life Skills students about their next step in the educational journey.
More than 100 students from the Life Skills of Cleveland and the Life Skills of Lake Erie had the opportunity to visit with the dozen or so schools in attendance.
The Life Skills of Lake Erie transported more than 35 students during the day, which was broken up into two sessions so that students in morning session and students in afternoon session would both get an equal chance to take part in the event.
As for the host school, they expected that around 75 of their students would take the time to go through the two rooms being used to house the colleges and universities.
On the first floor there were three schools - The Cleveland Institute of Art, Brown Aveda Institute and the University of Akron. On the second floor, schools such as Lincoln College of Technology, Regency Beauty Institute, the Cleveland Institute of Medical and Dental Assistants, ITT Tech, Kaplan University, the Academy of Court Reporting and Devry University set up tables.
While most every school brought information pertaining to their program and many brought giveaways for the students, one of the more unique items was from DeVry. They had handheld electronic devices that the students could use to input their information and also compete head-to-head with other students in a game.
All in all, the day seemed to be a success for the school as many students got to take a look to what might be their future after receiving their high school diploma from Life Skills.
